“A truly unique experience with the most vibrant & knowledgeable staff!”
During my travels to South America, my first and last stops were both in Ecuador. First, because it was a great place to start, and last, because the country’s rich biodiversity and culture merited one more round! I was able to experience the places that encompass Ecuador’s diverse offerings with Community Adventures – Quito, Quilotoa, the jungle, and Alausi in the province of Chimborazo.
The staff was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, but more than anything, so fun to hang around with! They really added to experiences, to the point that at the end of our tours everyone felt like family! In Quito, I did the food tour in the evening – we went to a handful of local eateries in the heart of the city’s colonial district, and got to taste some bites of various traditional Ecuadorean dishes. It was sort of like a live Anthony Bourdain episode – we learned about the food and culture through our taste buds. It was also a good way to meet others, I recommend staying through the last part where you visit La Ronda and have MORE food and drink to top the night!
Quilotoa and the jungle are must-sees, and Community did an amazing job of getting me to these locations and maximizing my experience there. On the Quilotoa tour, you not only get to see the beautiful crater and its surroundings, but you also get to experience one of the most authentic farmers markets in the country (lots of animals, too!) Before the lake, you also visit a local indigenous family’s home and talk to them about how they’re able to stay warm and fed in such a remote location. The actual lake speaks for itself, just look at pictures! Absolutely breathtaking, but the little stops preceding the lake were definitely just as worthy of praise!
My absolute FAVORITE part of Ecuador was the province of Chimborazo. Though most tourists will not talk about this part of the country, it has SO much to offer! I did the Alausí tour with Community Adventures – Alausí is a quaint, small town that is the nest of the Nariz del Diablo train ride. However, there is more than meets the eye – their market and surrounding landscape are the real gems in my opinion! If you’re looking to take the road less traveled, this is the place to go. We went to nearby Lake Ozogoche, which was beyond breathtaking – quite the windy trek, but worth it, and the views indescribable! Make sure you take warm layers, though!
I recommend Community Adventures to anyone wanting to have an authentic experience while also enjoying great company – the guides and staff were honestly so accommodating, hilarious, and fun to be around. Their prices are comparable to those of other agencies offering these tours, but I guarantee that when you book with them, you’re opting on the side of fun!

“The best way to explore Ecuador: awesome service and amazing people!”
Ecuador was my last stop of solo traveling in South America. It was my first time in the country and I hadn’t planned my time there at all. The only thing I had when my flight landed at Quito airport was a 2-night booking at Community Hostel.
Little did I know that would have been the luckiest choice I’ve ever made!
Since the first moment I stepped into the hostel I felt completely at ease. I was welcomed in the common area that had a vibrant, warm, homely vibe. Even though I was so sleep deprived I couldn’t help but join the Quito Free Walking Tour led by Ovi. It was a great way to get a first feel of the city and learn about Ecuador’s history.
While in Quito I also joined the evening Food Tour which I guarantee you’ll enjoy, especially if you’re a foodie like me!
Community Adventures organized my 5-day trip to Cuyabeno in the Amazon jungle, as well as the trip to Quilotoa. They were both well-organized and budget-friendly.
Quilotoa and the jungle are must-sees, and Community did an amazing job at and maximizing my experience there. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable, helpful and reliable.
To whoever is planning to visit Ecuador, Community Adventures is the place to go to! The best agency to enhance your Ecuadorian adventure, a real community made of passionate, vibrant and competent people!
