Cuyabeno Jungle Tour

Video

Envision yourself swimming in a lake in the middle of the jungle, witnessing the beautiful sunset, surrounded by lush greenery and undisturbed wildlife! This and more awaits you on our popular Cuyabeno jungle tour.

The Cuyabeno Reserve, an oasis of peace and adventure in the Ecuadorian Amazon, is truly one of the country’s best treasures. Whether you’re a nature enthusiast, ecology buff, adventure junkie, or merely want to explore one of the world’s most diverse ecosystems, Cuyabeno will suit your interests. Among the various experiences travelers love about this tour is the spontaneous sighting of the reserve’s flora and fauna – birds, monkeys, caimans, frogs, bullet ants, turtles, pink river dolphins, electric eel, boas, and if you’re lucky, an anaconda. The guides are also knowledgeable about the plants you will encounter, so you will learn about the region’s botany and the intriguing properties of some of the things around you.

One of the unique aspects of this tour is the visit to the local Siona community, where you will interact with the people who live and thrive off the land. They will teach you how to make yucca bread, how they grow coffee, and meet their shaman (this is one of the most memorable parts of the tour, you’ll see why!)

Tailor this tour to your interests and flexibility – we offer expeditions of 4 & 5 days! The tour is ideal for families, couples, or a group of friends. See details about our individual itineraries below, and join us on this memorable trip!

CUSTOMER REVIEWS:

“We recently booked to go on the jungle tour to Guacamayo Lodge with Community Adventures and it was extremely easy to book, get information and pay for the trip. The staff are ever so helpful and the whole trip from start to finish went seamlessly for us! We were able to keep in touch with them easily by email whilst we were elsewhere in Ecuador in the lead up to the trip! The lodge itself was nice, very typical of what you would imagine from an Amazon style hut. Food was good and we saw wildlife ranging from monkeys to sloths to snakes to spiders. Our guide Jacob was really lovely and friendly and knew loads about every creature and plant we encountered. Everything was taken care of including boots and ponchos and it was lovely scenery all around. It was a relaxing trip but you still got to do three activities a day.” – Phillipa B

“I loved seeing the Amazon region, and this tour made my trip very enjoyable. Our guide Diego was extremely knowledgeable about the environment, including all the plants and animals. He knew all about the ecosystems, as well as the indigenous communities, and he spoke fluent English, so I learned a lot. He took time to make sure we saw lots of animals/creatures.

The activities (boat tours, night walk, paddling, visit to an indigenous community) were educational and varied, which allowed you to see different facets of the Amazon. The food was decent and the lodgings were clean and comfortable. The staff at the resort were very nice and helpful. The lodge is on the river, so it was very relaxing – bring a book for chill time. I would recommend this tour, it really enhanced my experience of visiting the Amazon.

Note that the tour did not include initial transport to and from Quito – a six hour bus ride to a pick up location. You can book private transport through the agency/guide for $20 each way. I ended up doing this because it was about the same price to take a public bus and then a taxi, as the Quito bus station is far from city center and you depart/arrive in Quito at night. If you take the public bus into Quito city center, the public option would be slightly cheaper, but take more time.” – Alysson W
